Special Interest Groups

Special Interest Groups

One of the benefits of UKPHA membership, is that individuals and organisations can actively participate not only in national and regional activities but also in our Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

The aim of Special Interest Groups  is to provide an opportunity for UKPHA members to come together to influence policy, advocate, create awareness and network around a particular issue or area of interest.

In some instances the groups respond to consultations or produce reports themselves, but sometimes the groups feed results from their meetings back to the UKPHA council. When this occurs the UKPHA council can address issues which have been raised and seek the opinion of the membership.

Once ratified by the UKPHA Council, the recommendations and background research produced by SIGs will form the basis of UKPHA policy.

We currently have 7 Special Interest Groups:

  • Alcohol & Violence
  • Food
  • Health & Sustainable Environments
  • Child Public Health (formerly Health Visiting & Public Health)
  • Housing & Health
  • Pharmacy & Public Health
  • Public Mental Health

Please click on the links in the left hand menu for further information on these SIGs.  Members of these SIGs can also access meeting documentation, documents of interest and any consultation responses once logged in.  If you are interested in trialing membership of a SIG before joining UKPHA, please email Gemma Levy. If you would like to join UKPHA, please complete the "Join UKPHA" form.
